I have worked and made my home in Scotland for the last 23 years. Throughout these years I have seen the standards of hospitality, service and the culinary offering in Scotland improve beyond recognition. There has always been a marker in my diary annually when Alan has come to visit, inspect, and catch up on all things ‘hospitality’. His travels and insights have always kept me abreast of the latest developments in the industry and I learn more over a mug of tea with Alan than from most other sources. Alan takes such a personal approach to the guide and has such a passion for hospitality and food in Scotland, that the guide can be used with confidence as he lives and breathes every entry.

For the last 18 years I’ve had the privilege of managing one of the country’s most Iconic restaurant’s – Restaurant Andrew Fairlie. We have featured in Stevensons since we opened in 2001 and we are proud to be recognised by Alan as a restaurant of merit. I am honoured to be in such esteemed company and even more so to be able to write the foreword for the Silver Anniversary edition of Stevensons Guide.
