Foreword by the First Minister, Alex Salmond
I would like to welcome you all to the 15th
edition of Scotland’s Good Hotel and Food Book
2010. Tourism has experienced a mixed year. The economic difficulties
that have been felt around the world have undoubtedly had an impact
here in Scotland, however, I believe that the majority of our businesses
have worked extremely hard to minimise the impact of these
challenging times. Our Year of Homecoming is well underway and I am
sure it has already been very successful in bringing visitors back
‘home’ to Scotland. Many of these will have been fortunate to enjoy
some of the finest accommodation and exquisite cuisine that we have on
offer.
Now more than ever, quality is paramount in making the visitor experience a truly memorable occasion. From the welcome and service that visitors receive, the cleanliness and conditions of an establishment, to the general ambience and friendliness portrayed, all these details are essential to encourage visitors to return time after time.
This book contains Alan Stevenson’s personal collection of some of the finest hotels and restaurants across Scotland. Once again, he has travelled the length and breadth of the country in search of the very best that Scotland has to offer. I hope that you find this book useful in helping you choose where to stay and dine and I hope that you have a very pleasant time.
