An outstanding property in a truly highland (and rugged) setting with panoramic views over Lochinver bay. It certainly lived up to its VisitScotland 5 star status during my 2 night stay this year. The bespoke Iolaire suite is quite magnificent with its own fireplace but all bedrooms/suites are extremely spacious and comfortable and all have panoramic views over the harbour and beyond.

The cuisine (Chez Roux) has taken on a slightly French influence introduced by Albert Roux OBE, KFO who is head of the famous cooking dynasty behind such establishments as Le Gavroche which was the first ever restaurant in the UK to be awarded three Michelin Stars. The abundance of local fresh ingredients, especially fish from the harbour and wild chanterelles, are used in more traditional dishes. The view from the dining room is ‘out of this world’.

Upholds all the fine traditions of housekeeping. Great ambience and comes highly recommended.

Managed by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI).

(First visited, 1993).
