Alan Stevenson - Publisher
After leaving George Watson's College in Edinburgh, Alan Stevenson spent 12 years in Southern Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe) before returning to Scotland. He joined Lord Thomson Of Fleet at 'The Scotsman' and also spent 4 years in Johannesburg, South Africa with 'The International Thomson Organisation'. Later he moved to the Glasgow Herald Group (then Geo. Outram) to work on the title 'Scottish Field' and in 1987 formed his own publishing business in Edinburgh.
Alan has worked on various travel and food publications. He decided at the end of 1994 to publish his own Good Hotel Book for Scotland and added the Good Food Book in 1999. Alan's passion for Scotland is reflected in his interest in Scottish history. He is a member of the National Trust for Scotland.
This is a personal and unique collection of some of the finest hotels and restaurants in Scotland which have been selected by Alan Stevenson. For many years now Alan has travelled the length and breadth of Scotland in his quest for the very best in Scottish hospitality. His own knowledge of Scotland and its heritage is not unknown.
